How a Florida appointment works

  1. Send your details. Use the case review form and choose Florida as the state.
  2. We read them first. We review what you sent and tell you within 48 hours whether we can take the matter.
  3. Meet by appointment. By phone or video. There are no in-person meetings for Florida clients.

What is different about Florida law

Florida rules differ from Texas in ways that change a case. These come up most often.

  • Injury deadlines changed in 2023. For negligence claims that arose after March 24, 2023, the deadline is usually 2 years (Fla. Stat. 95.11(5)(a)). Older claims may have 4 years.
  • Partial fault. Since 2023, a person more than 50% at fault usually cannot recover in a negligence case.
  • No-fault car insurance. Florida drivers carry personal injury protection (PIP), and you generally must get initial treatment within 14 days of a crash to use it.
  • Contracts. Usually 5 years for a written contract and 4 years for one that is not written (Fla. Stat. 95.11(2)(b) and 95.11(3)(j)).
  • Workplace harassment. A charge with the Florida Commission on Human Relations is generally due within 365 days.
